Studio Sibling

Songs from the Void was the first time studio sibling was invited to coach and direct a bunch of inspiring young artists into creation. Under the wings of DeSingel & Muziektheater Transparant, Songs from the Void was created in two weeks as Summer school for 20 emerging artists between 15 and 25 years old.

For Songs from the Void, sibling chose chaos as a starting point. In an arena for lost bodies, a cacophony of sounds arises from a swarm of limbs. Sometimes the chaos crystallizes into songs: arias, pop songs, spoken word scenes, classical instrumental études and danced monologues. Repertoire is stripped down and original texts are given shape. The performs act as swampy choir, a swarm that collectively holds space for renewal: from the Void, every individual transforms into their own quirky poppy alter ego.
